Who We Are

Content-Strategy was initially conceived at the Web Editors School in Oslo. The site is run by Nina Furu with contributions and support from several other web editors and business colleagues.

Content-Strategy.com is an English language version of a Scandinavian web resource called Nettredaktor.no ("Nettredaktør" is the same as "Web editor"). The concept behind Nettredaktor.no was born during a class in web journalism at the Web Editor School in Oslo in Autumn 2003. Present were the first class of web editor students, a guest lecturer from the communications web-site Propaganda and head of the Web Editors School, Mrs Nina Furu. The purpose was really to make a case-study in web journalism, but the group got so hooked on the idea of a web-site of and for web editors that they decided then and there to make it happen.

But - as we all know - web projects are much quicker to plan than to complete. It took four more months concentrating on content, design and implementation before nettredaktor.no saw the digital light of day. The English language version was two more years in the making and only appeared in Autumn 2005.

The web editor that has taken upon herself the responsibility of running this site is Nina Furu. A senior communications advisor, international lecturer and seasoned web editor, she is generally considered among the leading experts on web content in Scandinavia. She currently heads the Web Editors School in Oslo, as well as advising a select group of major web sites. She is also an experienced columnist and author, having written among other things two text books ("Editing for the Web" and "Web Communication") currently used in university level web editor education.

Content-Strategy is a pro bono project that she does without direct financial recompense. Why? Maybe because, as the old hackers used to say, information wants to be free. Decades of activity in the online market has taught Mrs Furu quite a bit, and these lessons have proven profitable for others as well. Some of the things she has learned she shares here free of charge. Otherwise her knowledge is paid for by tutoring, seminars, lectures, text-books or consultations.

At Content-Strategy we believe that the web as a whole gets better when we share our skills with others. All of us are pioneers of a new expertise, and it is up to each and every one of us to add our part to the knowledge capital that is continually growing. Who knows, maybe someone in the future will thank us for the effort? :-)))

Please note that this does not mean that you can use Content-Strategy content in any way you see fit. Please see our terms of use for guidelines on how Content-Strategy content may be used.
